(Commentary from a disgruntled citizen)
A faction more ambitious than the TTP (Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan), better equipped, better funded, enjoying the allegiance of a handful of resolute fighters including many with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egyptian passports? And this faction now boasts yet another high-profile attack on its profile.
It appears Uzbek jihadists living in Pakistan tribal belt are not going anywhere....maybe even after the ongoing military operation.
Welcome to Nawaz Sharrif's "strategic depth".......After more than a year in office pursuing economic goals he believed would solve all the country's problems and best of all would placate an angry India. Reality is, nothing has been fixed so far. Months have gone by and the PML (Pakistan Muslim League) regime is still reassuring Pakistanis that the situation in tribal area is under control, with the “remnants” of TTP and Uzbek IMU (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan) flexing their muscles in Karachi and other settled areas and issuing fresh threats. Nawaz now confronts a more complex Jihadi movement that keeps coming back taking revenge -- and to make matters worse -- mounting pressure from the military that is hell bent on taking on the Taliban in the North Waziristan.
Nawaz, right from the start, hadn't had a heart to go to Waziristan to fight the TTP on its turf. Nawaz is more interested in building economy than going through the troubles of war and reprisal attacks that the TTP has promised in case of any military offensive.
