Depression affects women and men differently and the impact on both genders usually has varied implications. Not only are women more likely to falling into depression trap than men, but the causes and symptoms are often different from that of men. However, familiarizing yourself with what causes depression and spot the symptoms will heal and cure depression quicker.
Depression is an illness that can have negative effects on all aspects of your life. Depression, if not cured at the right time, can impact your social life, your family relationships, your career and even worse your self-esteem. If you feel sad, guilty, tired, you may suffer from depression. This is something that is not uncommon in women. Approximately 12 million women in the United States experience depression each year. Approximately one in eight women can expect to experience depression in their lifetime.
The number of women suffering from depression is twice as much when comparing male patients. Another thing that should be noted is that depression is common in most of the developed countries. Several theories attempt to explain this large discrepancy to find out why depression is so prevalent among females.
